Signing Off was UB40's debut album, released in September 1980 it reached No 2 in the UK
album charts. The album was titled Signing Off to celebrate the fact that a number of UB40
signed off from the social security (Dole). The album cover depicts an actual Dole Card,
UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT 40. Yes you have guessed it, that's where UB40 got their name, UB40.
Its just as well they all hadn't got the sack or they could have been called P45...mmm,
now there's a thought!
